The Racing HQ Holden
This is THE Racing HQ Holden Designed to produce close racing at a minimum cost, the HQ Holden race series is a one make series based on the standard 4 door HQ Holden sedan, as produced by General Motors-Holden's Ltd between 1971 and 1974.




A summary of the mechanical specifications for a racing HQ Holden is listed following.


Wheels: 14" x 7", or 14" x 8", steel rims or magnesium alloy rims

Tyres: One make and size - Bridgestone RE 92's

Suspension: A controlled package consisting of:
- all mounting points remaining in original position
-all bushings must be original (rubber)


Brakes: Front disc (PBR or Girlock) type
Rear drum type
Friction lining free choice


Engine: 202ci "Red" motor - maximum .060" oversize
Wade 933 controlled camshaft
Standard crankshaft
Conrods must be standard type
Engine may be blueprinted and balanced
Sump may be baffled
Cast pistons only - compression ratio is free choice


Cylinder head: Valve springs are free choice but only one spring per valve (no double valve springs)
Valves are free choice subject to maximum head sizes - exhaust 1.375" and inlet 1.675"
Hand or machine finishing of head ports is not permitted
Valve lifters are free choice but must be of hydraulic operation and with a maximum diameter of 0.8428"


Exhaust: Exhaust is free choice from the cylinder head exit

Carburettor: Standard six cylinder 202ci "Red" motor Stromberg carburettor (one only)
Jets are free choice
Air cleaner element may be removed


Cooling: Radiator is free choice but must bolt on using the original holes
Electric fan may be fitted


Clutch: Method of actuation is free choice
One tonner clutch assembly may be fitted


Gearbox: Standard 3 speed gearbox
Floor shift may be fitted


Differential: Standard non-limited slip Banjo, or Salisbury, type - ratio 3.55 to 1
