Peter Brown Racing

Racing History
Peter Brown grew up in a motor racing family, with his father Bill and brothers Alan and Denis all being involved in various forms of motor sport over a forty year period. Peter and his brother Alan
Peter Brown commenced his racing career in 1974 in an LC series Holden Torana GTR, including Torana Car Club events and events conducted by the WA Sporting Car Club. Over a two year period, Peter Brown competed in the WA State Rally Championships, rallycross, and hillclimb events; and also competed in the street car class events at Wanneroo during 1974 and 1975.

Peter Brown and his Torana In an Interclub Sprint Day at Wanneroo conducted by the WA Sporting Car Club in 1974, Peter Brown was the fastest of 42 drivers, setting a (long circuit) lap time of 1:17.9s in his six cylinder Holden Torana GTR. Demonstrating his now trademark consistency in lap times, two of his three laps were timed at the fastest lap time.
After a break of some 20 years, Peter Brown returned to motor racing as a co-driver and team member for fellow fireman, Garry Peat, in the annual 25 lap endurance race for HQ Holdens at the Barbagallo Raceway, Wanneroo on 5th November, 1995. Having enjoyed the experience, Peter Brown purchased the HQ Holden previously raced by Peter Annisich in February 1997. He raced in his first meeting the following month, being the National Championship HQ Holden Titles for 1997, and learned greatly from the experience of competing with the best HQ Holden drivers in the nation.

Although he did not compete for the full season, Peter Brown drove creditably to finish 5th overall in the HQRWA club point score series for 1997, his first season of racing.

More frequent driving opportunities, combined with continuous development of the car, saw Peter Brown progressively improve his performance, and finishing races closer to the front of the field. His efforts were finally rewarded with his first race win in Race 17 on 14th March, 1998, winning the 5 lap race in the time of 5:29.6187s, having lead all the way. His second win occurred in race 1 (the 10 lap championship race) on Saturday 16 August, 1998, winning in the time of 12:54.2674s, again having lead all the way.

By the end of the 1998 season, Peter Brown had proven he had arrived by finishing 3rd overall in the HQRWA club point score series, and 4th overall in WA Championship series points.

Confirming his developing competitiveness, Peter Brown commenced the 1998/99 season with a very spirited drive in the first meeting, and followed this with a sequence of 16 consecutive race wins, and a series win in the Nightmaster Series.
