Profile on Peter Brown.
 |
Peter Brown was born in Perth, and educated at Balcatta Senior High School.
After leaving school he completed an electrical apprenticeship with the Public Works Department in Leederville.
His interest in motorsport developed at an early age, growing into family where the racing of cars and bikes at racing circuits, and the speedway, was a way of life.
Through his late teens Peter Brown was an active member of the Torana Car Club, and he successfully participated in rallying, autocross and hillclimb events, as well as circuit racing in street cars at the Wanneroo Raceway.
He temporarily retired from motor racing when he moved to Karratha with his new wife, Penny, in late 1975. |
After a number of years working for Hamersley Iron in Dampier, Peter Brown and his family returned to Perth where Peter joined the Western Australian Fire Brigade.
An offer to drive an HQ Holden as a co-driver with the late Gary Peat stimulated his return to motor racing, and resulted in Peter purchasing the HQ Holden previously driven by Peter Annisich.
