![]() Australian Auto Action ![]() No. 825 February 18, 1999 Rob Janney HQ Holdens Peter Brown dominated the Bridgestone HQ's, taking the six lap qualifying race from Tony James, John Borich and Darren Peat. In round three of the WA State Championship, sponsored by Boilergenics, Brown again stamped his authority on the race to lead from the start, pursued by newcomer Chris Farr in the ex-Harvey car followed by Borich dicing with Peat and James for third. Next was Roger Hurkins, Paul Sampey and Mike Annette making a late start from pitlane. On lap six officials red flagged the race because of an exhaust pipe in the entry into Yokohama. Brown stormed away at the restart with Annette working his way quickly into second ahead of James and Hurkens. Annette and James produced a good finish with Annette just getting to the finish line, but on combined times of the two parts of the race, Annette was pipped for second by James. Brown made it three in a row in the next six lap race while James and Annette had a tremendous dice for the minor places with Annette taking second narrowly on the final lap. Annette put the pressure on Brown in the opening laps of the final race, but Brown managed to pull clear. James and Farr duelled for third with James coming out on top.
