![]() Australian Auto Action ![]() No. 821 January 21, 1999 HQ Holdens Peter Brown scored pole for the six lap qualifying race and led from start to finish. Second went to Steve Raisin after a race long dice with Wayne Morfett, while fourth placed Jeff Watts held off Luke Hansen. Race two was the second round of the WA HQ Holden Championship and the grid was determined by the fastest laps set in the qualifying event. Raisin secured pole and led the first lap until Brown and Mike Annette slipped through. The race, however, was red flagged on lap four after Raisin and Dennis Barbarich crashed at Kolb Corner. Brown led the restart from Annette and they finished in that order ahead of Watts, who grabbed the last minor placing after a race long dice with Wade and Hansen. Brown was on a roll and led again from start to finish in the first of three six lap sprint races. Annette was tapped out of second by Wade, while Watts moved up to third ahead of Morfett, Clint Harvey, Darren Peat and Hansen. Brown led all the way in the second sprint from Wade, James, Annette, Hansen and Peat. Brown romped away with the final race, whils Hansen, Peat, James and Annette diced for the minor placings. Peat, however, spun out of contention on lap five, which allowed Annette - who passed James - up to second, whils Hansen had a spin on the final lap but still kept fifth.
